Home owners facing repossession will be able to defer part of their mortgage interest payments for up to two years under plans unveiled by Prime Minister Gordon Brown today, reports the BBC with its usual enthusiasm (although, strangely, without any of its usual typos). The scheme will give those who lose their jobs or take a big cut in their income an extended breathing space before their home is at risk, and will cover mortgages worth up to £400,000.

Those UK citizens living in rented houses and flats who lose their jobs or take a big cut in their incomes during the recession can expect to be thrown out onto the street along with their children, pets and any elderly people in their care, after which action they will be branded Unproductive Scum. They may find bridges to sleep under but thanks to anti-terrorist and other legislation passed since New Labour first came to office, the Police will always do their duty in moving the homeless unemployed on, and away from any location visible to the middle- and upper-classes from their homes, offices and places of entertainment and commerce.
