Poem: Supermarket Thrills

We thought we would stay that way forever,
young, energetic, full of dreams.

Instead, here we are carrying shopping bags,
climbing the hill, slightly out of breath.

The battle lines are drawn around our eyes,
the sins we never believed would catch up with us,

catching up with us.

There’s this point where the green meets blue stretches,
and we pause, lamentably drunk on memory, our experiences lost to Time.

“Wasted on the young,” they say.
“No, not really,” we reply.

But we remember as teenagers we never got excited
about two for one offers, those supermarket thrills of today.

I'm saddened to learn that Big Finish has not only lost the right to produce new The Tomorrow People audio plays, but did so halfway through completing a sixth season! They don't even have the right to sell seasons 1-5 anymore, but can sell the original TV shows on DVD.
