BBC radio shows come to iPhone

BBC iPlayer now offers iPhone users access to a seven-day archive of radio shows over a wi-fi connection only. O2’s contract includes a ‘no streaming’ rule to prevent customers from making good use of 3G as, when, and if they can ever get a 3G connection. If, like me, you rarely see the 3G symbol (or E for 2.5g Edge) appear on your iPhone, don’t worry about it—the contractual ban makes the connectivity pretty useless.

The most disastrous product launch in history, courtesy of Apple and its partners

Apple overstretched itself with the decision to launch the iPhone 3G simultaneously in 22 countries, that much is now certain. The company has, at the same time, remodelled its .Mac online storage service as MobileMe; it has released software updates for iPhone, iPod Touch, and Apple TV; it has opened the App Store to distribute various applications for its handheld devices; and, it has released a new version of iTunes. Blimey. Too much? Apparently so.
