Apple’s iGravy train not derailed by recession

Apple has announced that it will be launching a new range of iMacs at the start of November that promise to be $100 cheaper than the last lot over in the US, £100 more expensive than the last lot in Britain, and “a lot shinier” according to a spokesperson. The news was greeted by thousands of hardcore fans losing control of their bowels and bladders in public across the US while bursting into tears and songs of praise.

The company is aiming to release new models on a weekly basis by the end of 2009, but claims it just can’t find children able to work fast enough in China to achieve this ambition any sooner—although it is in talks with Monsanto to produce genetically-modified infants capable of assembling Apple hardware in just seconds, allowing at least a hundred iMacs to be shipped between each diaper change.

New MacBook only cheaper in US, and ugly too

I read a review of the new MacBook yesterday that, being US-focussed, as is often the case completely failed to consider the bigger global picture. The new MacBook has upset a lot of Apple fans here in the UK. Jobs paraded it as cheaper by about $100 when he launched it last week, compared to the previous version, but here in the UK it won’t be cheaper. It’s £70 more expensive! I left a comment on the review that this price hike is just plain idiotic when implemented in the face of the deepest, darkest recession most anyone alive will have ever been through, happening right now and set to last possibly years.
