We’ve bought their house… Now we just need the chickens!

Our new chicken house and run

We get our first four ex-battery hens through the Battery Hen Welfare Trust at the end of January or during February sometime before the end of March, whenever the next rescue collection takes place, for the sum of fifty pence each. That’s more than the supermarkets pay for birds dead at the end of miserable lives, trust me. What do you think broiler chickens cost the likes of Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s when they charge in the region of just three quid for a whole chicken?
