No better time to start growing your own

With it being widely reported of late that food staples are going to cost us more and more from 2008 onwards, there’s never been a better time to start growing your own fruit and vegetables. We cannot continue to eat more than we grow because it follows that food will become increasingly expensive and many more people the world over will starve. With a modest-sized garden only partly given over to crops, it’s possible to grow a diverse range of produce and, with a little careful planning, ensure you’ve got fresh food available the whole year round. You’re unlikely to end up self-sufficient but you will undoubtedly save money while, in the spirit of the Blitz, ‘doing your bit’.
