Stropping over a stupid shredder

I’m in a right strop this morning at a machine, not a person or circumstance. I planned to go outside and shred loads of twigs to make a new ground covering for the hen’s enclosure. The shredding machine or the Gremlin Nation, however, had different ideas. The damned hardware was working the last time it was switched off. Now it isn’t switching on, there are no signs of power getting through, and there’s a big blue wire sticking out from where it shouldn’t, between two sections of the machine’s moulding.

How the wire got out, I’ve no idea. And that part of the moulding from which it sticks out is bulging outwards like the Hulk was in residence and decided to break free with the brute force for which the Marvel character is famed.

Twee? You bet!

We’ve ordered a new henhouse. It’s actually a children’s wooden playhouse, with little square windows and a door, that we plan to convert. It’s huge but very pretty, and will be easy to clean. The old one will become a hospital/nursery, as and whenever either of those is needed.
