Amazon slays with triplicate Buffy book delivery

I was trying to print out a label for return of goods to Amazon today, but none of the options appearing on screen fitted the situation. I ordered ONE copy of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer graphic novel, and THREE turned up, all of them charged to my card. I accept mistakes are sometimes made by customers but there’s no way I’d have ordered three copies. I don’t need three copies, I don’t want three copies. All I did was add the book to my shopping basket. That was it. No second or third click, no manual entering of additional copies, nothing.

Wired carries an interview with author Mark Lynas about his ‘new’ book on the impact of global warming degree by degree. The book, Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet came out early last year in the UK. Presumably the book is so late hitting the US because the publishers had to figure out if enough Americans cared enough to buy it… Or, for that matter, were willing to believe global warming is real, and contemplate an end to their disposable, high-carbon culture. Wherever you live, get this book. It’s a must-read, filled with sound scientific material, and very, very frightening.
