Poem: Public Orders

Watching You Watching Me

You have the right to remain oppressed.
Do not think unapproved thoughts.
Stay where you are until we come for you.
We are watching you at all times.

If you smoke you will die.
If you are fat you should die.
If you are rich we like you.
If you are poor we pretend to like you.

Are you terrorist or citizen?
Your dustbin is too full.
You have the wrong face.
You are either with us or.

Remember to always take your dog shit with you when you leave.

Police close file on BT and Phorm

The City of London Police decision not to prosecute BT is surely politically motivated and involved lots of backroom discussions and firm, perhaps ritual, handshakes. No criminal offence was committed, they say, despite campaigners arguing that the trialling of the Phorm ad system by BT without customers’ knowledge or consent last year flouted data protection and privacy laws.

The City of London Police said that there was no criminal intent on behalf of BT and that there was implied consent because the service was going to benefit customers, which is frankly absurd as there needs to be no criminal intent for a crime to be committed—killing someone by driving a car when drunk, for example—and the benefit to customers is neither universal, nor indisputable. The notion that consent is implied on the grounds that some people—not all, not even a majority—would like a service is ridiculous.
