Liar! Liar!

Big Brother arguably had less of a stranglehold in 1984, George Orwell’s visionary novel, than it has in the real world of Great Britain in 2007. The UK already has more CCTV cameras per head of the population than any other country in the world, and the longest legal detention time of suspects before they have to be charged (even beating the US if you don’t include the treatment of those incarcerated in Guantanamo Bay). It also has more speed bumps and speed cameras than any other EU country. And now lie detection technology is to be used for the first time on telephone calls of unemployment benefit claimants.
