Physician heal thyself (and stop talking down to patients)

My doctor is an offensively rude and grouchy know-it-all, but I’m used to not liking doctors. It’s one reason why I’ve always been inclined to give credence to alternative therapies. They may or may not work, but at least the practitioners treat you with respect.

The only way to get respect and courtesy guaranteed from a doctor is to go private. And, of course, orthodox medicine can no more give guarantees of success than herbalism, aromatherapy, or anything else that doesn’t involve pharmaceutical drugs, which are only ever manufactured in the first place if there’s considered to be a lucrative market for them. Don’t go thinking pharmaceutical development is in any way honourable—it’s about sales bringing acceptable returns on investments. Saving lives is not the driving force behind new drugs becoming available.
