The miracle hen that survived being crushed under a paving slab


Galadriel the Hen, the miracle survivor!

Pictured above is our ex-battery hen, Galadriel, who at the weekend survived a paving slab falling on her, without a single broken bone in her body. I was rearranging the paving around the hen-house, and the slab was so heavy I had to drag it around. It was much too heavy for a grown man to easily lift, and was left for a short time leaning against a tree when it fell over. Onto our hen.

Drusilla, Princess of Privilege, 2005-2007

I am in a state of deep shock. In a horrible twist of coincidence, after writing my last entry in which I referred to cats being sacrificed on the altar of expediency for the Olympic stadium to be built, it seems the fates have required a sacrifice from our own family of felines before we move house. Drusilla, my beloved black cat, is dead. She was hit by a car and killed instantly.
