Gay sex in the Vatican while dictator Mugabe praises the Conservatives

Two headlines today are so delicious, they’re fattening: Robert Mugabe backs David Cameron’s Conservatives and Vatican hit by gay sex scandal. In all my wildest imaginings I could not have hoped for stories like these to ever present themselves, let alone for them to appear on the same day. A murderous tyrant endorses the Tories? Male prostitutes procured, some of them said to be priests-in-training and choristers, at the heart of the virulently anti-gay Roman Catholic Church?

No facts. No figures. No research. Just old-fashioned anti-gay hatred and lies.

A supporter of Proposition 8 in the USA, called as a hostile witness by two gay couples challenging California’s marriage ban, has said that gays are more likely to molest children. William Tam, whose name was one of five which appeared on Prop 8 ballot arguments, was called in an effort to demonstrate that opposition to gay marriage is based on animosity towards gays.

“Do you believe that homosexuals are 12 times more likely to molest children?” Tam was asked by attorney David Boies.

“Yeah, based on the different literature that I have read,” Tam replied.

When pressed to cite authors or studies, he said he could not remember any names. Well now. What a surprise. I’d say he demonstrates the evil motivations behind the ban on gay marriage quite well, wouldn’t you? Earlier in the trial, Cambridge University psychologist Michael Lamb testified that there was no evidence whatsoever to suggest gays were more likely to abuse children than their straight counterparts.

Gay men fancy men. Not children. Gay women fancy women. Not children. It’s that simple—but clearly, it’s too simple for some despicable minds to grasp.

And they call us queer. Who would you prefer to babysit your kids: a religious fundamentalist for whom hate is a lifestyle choice, or a friendly homosexual?
