hocus, pocus & abracadabra: stirring up trouble for good

Use your brilliant light

Misery in Britain only becomes more visible and less easy to feign ignorance of, the more the Tories—with Liberal Democrat collusion—hit the sick, disabled, unemployed, self-employed, underemployed, parents, women, students, young people and low-earners.

Expect to see more news articles like this one, on suicide.

And talk to your friends and family, for fuck’s sake. Don’t just click ‘like’ on their Facebook updates or text them. It is not love, to dispense a mere click or two. It is not soul connection—no, for this to happen, to make a difference, you must open your mouth and speak, reach out with your hand to touch flesh, not phone.

We can only survive the brutality of the rich by being here for one another—and fighting, yes of course, but also by supporting those too weak and battered to put up any fight all. If you can’t be on a demonstration against cuts, you can always make a cup of tea for lonely friends and listen while they speak about the hells they’re living.

Your best weapon against the cruel rich is your brilliant light within. Don’t hide it. Use it.

I have acolytes. We eat quiche. We will fight the Anti-Quiche and its dark summoner as foretold in well-cooked prophecies contained within the Book of Delia. I write poetry, stories, rustle up a little political prose and generally lark about with chickens and friends. I enjoy life more and more as time goes by. I've got books for sale. Buy them. They're very good. Ask an acolyte!
