Those Quorn people just get cleverer. I mean, vegetarian pepperoni. Yes. You read that right. Vegetarian. Pepperoni. Now, as a long-standing veggie myself, I like my vegetable foodstuffs to be actual vegetables as a rule but I am, like anyone, lazy sometimes and there is a certain appeal to faux ham, faux turkey and all the other non-meaty meats that are available these days. I know folks can get a bit snobby on both sides of the fence about these things—either, it’s pretending to be dead animal or I only eat dead animals, blah blah—but simply put, I don’t care.
I just never thought they’d do vegetarian pepperoni. Not having eaten pepperoni since as far back as 1992, I might have forgotten what it tasted like but, judging from the taste of this new Quorn stuff, I haven’t forgotten because I think it’s pretty faithful to the original flavour. Perhaps just a little less mouth-bashing. It will probably take a meat-eater to tell me how close the taste is to the real dead animal stuff.
I think it’s yummy.
