We used to be glad of the ads on TV,
giving us time to pee and make tea
but now we make tea and pee
after pressing pause
and fast-forward the ads
for passing fads
because our needs to pee
and drink copious tea
are no longer catered to
by television advertising
but boxes with lights on
that send back data
on what we’re watching.
