Poem // Lament for the Loved to Whom We Say Goodbye

Why do our loved ones have to leave us
and then a new day dawns?

Why must we leave our loved ones
when there’s so much love not yet done?

Why must the sun set
and night come along?

Why do we appreciate them even more
when they’ve gone?

So many lives flying up as ash to the sky.
So many questions as we wave goodbye.

I have acolytes. We eat quiche. We will fight the Anti-Quiche and its dark summoner as foretold in well-cooked prophecies contained within the Book of Delia. I write poetry, rustle up a little political prose and generally lark about with chickens and friends. I enjoy life more and more as time goes by.
