Happy Yule!

Dec 21 2009

I’d like to take the opportunity this Midwinter Solstice to wish all my readers a very Happy Yule and every blessing for the coming year. The snow round these parts is certainly lying crisp and deep and even and it looks like we’ll be getting a white Christmas for the first time in ages. Or at least an icy one with grey snowy left-overs, who can say for sure? It’s too early to call.

I bet (haha) a few bookmakers are sweating it right now at the possibility of having to make some significant pay-outs to (for once) lucky gamblers. Still, the extent of my gambling is to put money on the National Lottery every once in a while.

Our driveway is a steep slope and unfortunately our car has been stuck there for some days now because we can’t clear the snow and ice away to a sufficient degree to allow the tyres to get traction. The smell of burning rubber is a sure sign to leave well alone, and at one point my beloved nearly turned the car into a garden feature when it went into a slide that had me leaping out of the way sharpish in a rare display of quasi-athletic endeavour.

Oh, and one last thing: Little Miss Gull is well on the way to recovery and will be going to a local wild bird sanctuary today until she’s able to walk properly again, and then she will be allowed to fly free.

Wonderful. I’m so happy. Again, a very Happy Yule to all. Enjoy your solstice celebrations!
