The Spicy Cauldron is four years old
The Spicy Cauldron celebrates its fourth birthday today. I wasn’t sure how to celebrate, but I eventually decided that this week I will be reposting just one entry per day, Tuesday through to Saturday, from each of the years that the site has been running (so that’s five entries over four years, because I’m going to stick to the calendar years and include the five months of 2004 as one year).
The entries I highlight won’t be what I consider to be the best of my output, at least not necessarily, but they will, for one reason or another, be seen by myself as having been significant milestones along the way. I may even provide follow-up commentaries, especially if my feelings, thoughts, and opinions have changed between then and now.
I think it would be impossible to select one best entry from each year. I blog way too often. But if you’ve got a favourite entry, please let me and others know by leaving a comment below. Don’t worry if you can’t remember the page address, and only recall a rough approximation of the content—tell me what you can remember, and I’ll see if I can hunt down the link for you to revisit.
I’ve made some great friends through maintaining this site, some of whom I’ve yet, if ever, to meet. I certainly hope I will one day. I hope I’ve been of service to people sometimes, by posting useful information or simply stuff that proves you’re not alone at times feeling the way you do about this or that issue.
I’d like to say I can’t believe four years have gone by, but frankly it feels like this blog has been part of my life forever. I enjoy writing it, and hope you’ve enjoyed at least some of the things I’ve posted about. I’m enormously grateful for every site visitor, and for the intelligent, entertaining and informed comments people have left.
One thing that is obvious, looking back, is how change has been my constant companion. So much has happened, I cannot begin to guess where I’ll be in 2012. But can anyone? The Spicy Cauldron may not be around in a year’s time, let alone four years’ time—I make no guarantees—but, for now, it remains in place. I hope that as long as I write and post stuff here, there’s always going to be someone, somewhere who gains something from my having done so.
Thank you! And please join me for the rest of this week, as we take a trip down memory lane…
