We’re to believe the ‘mystery’ of the 9/11 third tower collapse has been solved…

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

After two years of investigations, ordinary fires on several different floors now provide us with the official explanation as to why a third tower came down in the 9/11 attacks without having been hit by a plane. This would make it the first and only steel skyscraper in the world to collapse because of fire.

There are a number of architects, engineers and scientists who say the official explanation is impossible. Others without such specialist knowledge might simply marvel at the sheer coincidence of a terrorist attack of the greatest magnitude ever taking place alongside a rampant arsonist prowling from one floor to the next of a building that housed the Secret Service, CIA, Department of Defense and the Office of Emergency Management.

Also, despite the collapse of the third tower potentially making architectural history, the steel was taken away to be melted down. With no steel to study as evidence, investigators instead used four computer models to come up with the official explanation.

The third tower’s destruction was not mentioned at all in the 9/11 Commission Report. The first investigation by the Federal Emergency Management Agency was unable to determine what caused the collapse.

We can be in no doubt at all that the official explanation will silence conspiracy theorists, and ensure the demise in popularity of the ludicrous suggestion that the US government actually killed its own citizens in order to provide a believable excuse to begin a war for oil while securing ever-greater powers at home, with everything being done in the full knowledge of what was to happen to the world in the 21st Century as resources dwindle and temperatures rise.

Okay, that last paragraph? Not true. The rest of it, well—I guess it boils down to what you want to believe, what you actually want, what you’re prepared to believe.

I believe Bush didn’t just hijack democracy with the coup that saw Al Gore’s Presidency stolen from beneath his feet; no, Bush and his allies committed one of history’s most evil crimes on the day the towers came down, and that was only the start of a campaign of death, misinformation, power-stealing and scaremongering that would see the US and the world changed forever.

As tyrants and war criminals go, Bush, Cheney and all their allies are up there with Hitler, Mussolini, Mugabe, Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein and, of course, Osama bin Laden. Fascism is the cuckoo that kicked democracy out of the nest, and today’s advocates of fascism are not the outspoken, obvious despots of World War Two. They work from within the shell of democracy, cloaking their right-wing actions with talk of security, war bringing peace, and the need to protect our own citizens against all that is considered ‘alien’.

If only the feeling of disgust had a way of physically manifesting itself in the external world. If that were possible, the disgust so many of us feel towards Bush, Blair, Brown, bin Laden—every terrorist, every manipulator, every abuser of power, might result in these men becoming aware of the weight of that response, and, from having to carry it, even develop some sense of shame. Unfortunately, this is the real world—where buildings are brought down for political gain, where elections are rigged from Washington to Harare, and to hell with all the ordinary people who get in the way.

We can only ask, why does such madness exist? What can it possibly achieve that is good, lasting and right? It has no time for love, for learning, for sharing, for compassion. So what is its purpose?

Fire is actually what brought down both the Twin Towers. The towers both survived the plane impacts, as they were actually designed to do. (After WW2 - when a bomber hit the Empire State building - NYC skyscrapers are specifically designed to withstand large aircraft impact.) The jet fuel fires, added to by the burning aluminium (a primary component of solid rocket fuel) of the planes themselves, overwhelmed the fireproofing on the buildings’ structural steel. In addition, a significant portion of the fireproofing was removed by the impact. This allowed the fire to get to the internal support structures in the floors which held the walls together and cause them to partially melt, weaken and fail. When that happened, the walls fell outward and the floor pancaked down. THAT sort of failure and impact the buildings could not withstand and down they came. The cause of the third building’s collapse - like the gunman on the grassy knoll when Kennedy was shot - will probably forever be a mystery.

(And you know, of course, that the lack of evidence and proof is the surest sign that the conspiracy is working!)
