Is there a way to record iTunes crossfade mixes?

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

iTunes does a surprisingly great job of automatically mixing playlist items when you set it to use crossfading—assuming you’ve first taken care to choose tracks of similar BPM—but does anybody know if there’s a way to record the mixed output to an individual music file, and then import it back into the program?

Is there a third-party application (in my case, for the Mac) that can be used? I’m thinking the audio equivalent of screen grabbing.

I’m getting into using the more precise and professional functions of a DJ mixing application called Disco XT, which costs around £40 and is available for both OS X and Windows, but sometimes… Well, sometimes it’s nice to be a bit lazy and still get something of the same effect manual intervention can provide.
