Oh, the fame, the fame!

Not many of us can say we get a mention on Wikipedia. Imagine my surprise when my beloved emailed me from work today to tell me I’m one such person!

I used to be the International Story Editor for a hugely popular cartoon chat website called Dobedo aimed at the UK, Swedish and German 16-23 year old demographic. It was an early example of social networking long before Facebook was even thought of. Sadly, the dotcom crash of 2000 put an end to the company behind the site and nobody at the time was buying. So a fantastic concept bit the dust, and my best-ever job along with it. I still lament its passing because I enjoyed every aspect of my job. It was creative and empowering and everything I wanted it to be.

People still have fond memories of the site, and of my work as storyteller thereon. There are still fans out there campaigning for its return as, unbelievably, even seven years after its passing, it still has a cult following among those who were ‘there at the time’.
