Are you blocked by China?

Great Firewall of China is a site that allows you to find out if your own or any other is blocked by the Chinese government. I’ve had some surprises today, among them the fact that Khlari is blocked. Feisty goths are a big threat to Communism.

Howard is also banned, but then, we homos are known for our desire to undermine totalitarian regimes and subvert the natural order of oppressive bullying hierarchies.

I couldn’t test The Spicy Cauldron when I checked in. No idea why.

A Feminist Lost in the Patriarchy is okay, strangely enough. The Chinese can read her site, no problem. I would have thought feminists would be considered at least as dangerous as goths and queers. But no. Well, not this one!

MsDemmie is blocked. I think she won’t be surprised and, like many, will likely see it as a sign she’s doing something right.

Beaut1ful’s My Place is also blocked.

Not all wordpress.com blogs are blocked but a majority of those I link to seem to be. Then they are also pagan, or gay, or in some other way out of the ordinary, and ‘unsafe’. My links page is a list, not entirely but to a fair degree, of rebellious and left-of-centre types.

Jami is blocked.

Everything under Matthew and Sue’s doubledeckerbuses.org domain is available to the Chinese people, despite not shying away from subjects you’d expect a Communist regime to peg as undesirable, such as real-life stories of rebel heroes standing up against oppression. Former slaves and Native American chiefs fighting oppressive invaders and rulers can be found in abundance on Sue and Matthew’s historical blog. Their paranormal outlet couldn’t be checked when I tried.

I haven’t checked all the blogs I visit.

The blocks are based on the very antithesis of democracy and freedom, revealing aggressively heterosexist and anti-spiritual motivations. The firewall is clearly maintained by people who have problems with sexual and religious freedom. No big revelation there. Sex, scary. God, scarier.

The fact that we do business with the regime in China is, as always, unacceptable to anyone who truly values freedom over money. Take note Google. And if I wasn’t blocked before, I will be now!
