Mandrake: home, safe, wobbly


Mandrake made a quick recovery from the anaesthetic and so the vet told us, when we turned up to pay the bill and see how our wee friend was, that we could take him home.

We’re very happy to have our three-legged ginger beast curled up right now in his bed in front of the fire, wrapped in his favourite blue blanket and being visited every few minutes or so by one or another of his curious feline kin.

He’s not feeling much of anything after two jabs—one antibiotics, one painkillers—but clearly he’s in shock as he’s a bit cold and shivery. The other cats I wasn’t prepared for them being shocked, but they are. You can almost see the one question behind all their eyes: what happened to his leg?
