Grounding for beginners
Grounding is the term used to describe putting yourself, your mind and situation, into context with the world around you. It’s something many spiritual belief systems advocate but you don’t need to hold to any religious belief to find it useful, particularly in dealing with stress or worries or that sense of not being at one with the world.
Many people argue that they have no time to sit in meditation, or to engage in a daily spiritual practice but those of us who do find that we end up with more time, not less. Perhaps this is because the time taken to align ourselves allows for better organisation of our lives. Or maybe we just don’t feel quite so constrained.
T Thorn Coyle, in her wonderful and potentially life-changing book, presents a self-love cleansing ritual which can be undertaken whenever you want and it doesn’t take long. It’s especially good for people who perceive themselves as being very busy, especially those with children taking all their attention during the day. Although it is a form of magickal practice and devotion, you can also see it as a psychological self-help tool. It is.
