Drusilla's First Photo – ain't she pretty?

Drusilla is feeling a little better after more food than she’s been used to as well as some water. This is her very first photograph. Isn’t she beautiful? Before you wonder at the crappy decor, we’ve covered the bed in the guest room with nasty old carpet oddments in case there are any, um, accidents. None so far but they’re to be expected at some point.

She’s spent some time on her own in the dark and it seems to have helped her. The wound on her flank is ulcerated but that, too, is showing signs of improvement now she can’t lick it all the time.

She has no issues with us humans whatsover – she’s very loving – but her reaction to the other cats is intensely aggressive, giving us strong indication that she’s been bullied because it comes from fear not loathing. Maybe it’s the dog attack that has made her aggressive towards all other animals, not just dogs. It’s going to take time and a lot of love to get her to be sociable. We’ll see how she gets on in the days and weeks ahead. We’ve plenty of experience in rehabilitating abused animals and the one thing you need, besides love, is patience.

Of course, I’m angry at the bastards who left her behind when they moved. People who treat animals as disposable possessions should be banned from keeping pets for life.
