The first ladybird of Spring

Well I did manage to see the partial eclipse – a slice taken off the sun – but I wasn’t able to take any shots of it. I did, however, photograph this little creature: the first ladybird of Spring. The first I’ve seen, anyway.
This tells me Winter is definitely over. I was very pleased to see those familiar black spots and shiny red body. Welcome, ladybird! Here’s to sunnier, warmer days on the way.
If Big Ben could speak, what stories might it tell?

D took this photo of Big Ben, Westminster’s famous clock, on his mobile phone last time he was in London on work assignment.
Having lived together in London for many years before moving to the countryside, you’d think we would both have become rather indifferent to the things that tourists rush to see but no, you’d be wrong. We’ve always loved the history of the city, its landmarks. Politics may be boring but the Houses of Parliament are stunning to look at and there is something strangely romantic about Big Ben. It carries hopes and dreams and disappointments of times gone by and of the future, too.
